toronto yoga community mourns jenna morrison

The Toronto yoga community joined forces with the city’s cycling community this morning for a memorial bike ride in honour of Jenna Morrison, a mother and yoga teacher who died in a cycling accident on Monday, November 7. Jenna left behind a partner, a five-year-old son and a loving community of yogis. She was 38 years old and five months pregnant. Jenna was also a valued member of Yoga Community Toronto and acted as Volunteer Coordinator for the Yoga Festival Toronto.

Of course, she was much more than all of this. I only met Jenna briefly this summer at the festival and my impression was of a vivacious, warm, generous woman who lit up the room. There are no words for my sadness and my heart goes out to her family, the Toronto yoga community and the driver of the truck which fatally hit her.

Service to honor the life of Jenna Katherine Morrison

  1. Had I not been a delightedly married man raising a child together, this would be heart-breaking, but I found myself repeatedly thinking of this man, within mere moments, suddenly losing his wife and the child and future they were undoubtedly looking forward to, and now thrust into the life of a “single parent.” I saw a tv segment someone posted about the accident while I was teaching at Yogaville; tears flowed for a woman, a family, and a community’s loss.

And thank you, Roseanne, for posting the information about the trust fund.
