It’s summer and everybody’s on the move. But all those hotels can get expensive – even hostels and camping can add up. OmStays, a new online directory of “yoga travelers,” may be the answer for the budget-conscious and adventurous yogi.

Based on a model similar to CouchSurfing, members act as guests and hosts and have access to OmStays password-protected directories, which cover US and international locations. The guest/host membership model creates an arrangement of reciprocity, with hosts providing a private room with a real bed for $15 per night.

OmStays doesn’t just provide places for an extended savasana. You can also find ride shares, pet sitters, garden caretakers and volunteer opportunities. A comprehensive calendar of events features classes, retreats, festivals and conferences in the yoga world.
