The past few weeks have been soggy and damp in Montreal, but we’re getting close to the summer high and we’re ready to start heading outside. But a little rain doesn’t stop Montrealers from dancing, yoga-ing and celebrating. In the face of the weather gods, here are three upcoming events where you can get your move on in the great outdoors.
Lunch Beat MTL 2
Friday, June 14, 12:00pm – 1:00pm
The first Lunch Beat MTL was such a huge success (and such raging good fun) that the organizers have decided to throw another one, this time in collaboration with the Fringe Festival. The concept remains the same: a Montreal DJ will provide the beats while office dwellers and slackers alike tear up the dancefloor. Lunch is thrown in, too! This edition will feature music by Beat Market, food by Fuschia Épicerie Fleur and drinks by Dublin’s Pub/Karma Wellness Water. It’s all going down at le Parc des Ameriques (St Laurent and Rachel).
108 Sun Salutations on the Summit of Mount Tremblant
Sunday, June 16, 9:30am – 12:30pm
Get out of the city for the day and step up to the 108 sun salutation challenge at the peak of Mount Tremblant. Twelve yoga teachers from Montreal and the Laurentians will co-teach and guide participants through the series. It’s $20 to participate and all funds will benefit Yoga Mala Foundation and the Women in Need retreat organized by JUNA Yoga this October.
Yoga pour le Solstice d’été / Summer Solstice Yoga
Friday, June 21, 5:30am – 8:30am
Early risers, welcome the new season with a sunrise yoga practice in the Old Port. Do your own personal yoga or meditation practice, or join one of two multi-level group practices (at 6:00 – 7:15 and 7:30 – 8:30) led by Yasmin Fudakowska-Gow and friends. Participation is free but space is limited so register here to guarantee a spot.
