Shake your assana! Models in yoga pants & glasses? Yes, please! (image via assana.com)

Somebody had to do it: put an extra “s” in ‘asana’ and start a new yoga pants brand. It’s so obvious and irreverent that it’s surprising nobody had the guts to do it before.

But Leah Morelos and René Geneva did. The two Austin-based yogis recently launched ässanas, a line of yoga pants and athletic wear they claim is “anything but athletic looking.” Their first season boasts boot cut and flare pants with unique elements such as ruffle skirts and special prints.

The sassy pants are currently available only online, at a few Austin yoga studios and in the “Assana-bus,” a mobile storefront. In July, the savvy and innovative businesswomen will launch a Kickstarter campaign to expand their line and get customer feedback.

Apparently they’ll make your assana look pretty good, too.

This is so wonderful! Way to bring some fashion onto the yoga mat! I love wearing these hair ties too http://www.mykitsch.com they always make me feel a little more fashionable than the regular ol’ pony tail. Plus they look so cute as a bracelet! I love the ones with words on them :)

Hey Roseanne! Thanks for the shout out. Let us know if you’re in Austin; we’d love to shake it with you. :)

Hmmm, because we need more overpriced “yoga” pants on the market. And another feelgood company that can’t spell wears. ["wheres"??]. Disappointing. & not even that cute.

A company called “Assana” who seems to only sell their pants in small and medium? Where precisely is the “ass” in that? I call shenanigans!
